Meet with me twice before your birth to go over your hopes and concerns, and to help solidify your birth plan. I’ll be on call two weeks before your due date, and will attend your birth to offer you support.
What does birth support look like from a doula?
I will review various labour positions, pain relief measures, and birth preference options with you before your due date, and help you implement them on the big day. I’ll make sure all of your questions are being heard and answered, no matter where you choose to give birth. All of the decision-making power remains in your hands. I’ll also make sure your partner is feeling supported if needed. After baby is born, I’ll help you establish bonding and nursing. I’ll check in with you after birth to see how things are going- to help you recount your birth story, check in on feeding progress, answer any questions you might have, or even hold your baby while you shower.
What are the benefits of hiring a doula?
Hiring a doula has been proven to increase people’s positive perception of their birth experience, which can affect bonding with parent and baby, as well as comfort going into future pregnancies.
Hiring a doula has also been proven to lower the instance of unplanned C-sections and other interventions.
Doulas can refer you to their network of highly qualified professionals to help with all manner of questions that might crop up during pregnancy, labour, or the postpartum period.
